The markers from Action

This is all about pixel art on paper. Truly old-school, truly analog, because instead of a screen, it means: grab your colored pencils, draw the squares, and fill in the areas. And who's accompanying me on this colorful adventure? The Aqua Twin Markers from Action – also known as Decotime Markers. And you know what? They're inexpensive, they're beautifully colorful, they're… surprisingly good!

I use Decotime markers from Action. You're probably familiar with these inexpensive, water-based Aqua Twin markers with two tips (brush and fine) that keep popping up on the shelves at discount stores. Perhaps unremarkable to many, but a real insider tip for me.

They have a solid color selection, not huge, but absolutely sufficient to bring beautiful pixel projects to life on paper. And the best part is: you don't have to spend a fortune; a few euros are enough to get creative. For creative afternoons, quick ideas in between other activities, or simply a relaxing crafting session, they are truly uncomplicated, accessible, and colorful.

The color gradients aren't perfect, but they're wonderful for our pixel art. One square at a time, add color, move on to the next corner. It's almost meditative. And believe me, I've painted quite a lot of squares in the last few days.

And if you want to delve deeper into the world of color…

I know many people are looking for something "more": more nuances, more quality, more longevity. That's why I also want to tell you about the Ohuhu markers; they're practically a secret weapon among artists for affordable quality with a professional feel. I don't (yet!) own any Ohuhu markers myself, but I'm very tempted and know many people who are absolutely thrilled with them. If you'd like to take a look (or maybe even adopt them!), the links below are Amazon affiliate links. I receive a small commission for every purchase made through these links. Of course, this doesn't cost you anything extra! Thank you so much for your support <3

What I'm also happy about: Our children prefer these water-based markers (from Action) to classic felt-tip pens. The colors are more intense, the drawing experience is softer, and somehow it's just much more fun.

So, my dears, ultimately it's not about which set is more expensive or which color offers more features. It's much more about what inspires you to get started. Sometimes that's 40 markers from a discount store. Sometimes it's a deluxe set with 120 colors. So grab your markers, whatever they are, and pixelate the world the way you like it.
